New Classic Megamix up by Ben Echo (Fresh Jive, etc)
Easy all
The first here in a quick series of update posts after a couple of weeks off from the blogging...
Ben Echo, who is down with Fresh Jive crew and plays regularly at the Elbow Room in Leeds, has been putting together a few mixes recently. You can check most of these out on his Soundcloud account.
My favourite is definitely the "Mini Megamix" he's put together using various well-known Hip-Hop tracks. It gets pretty damn commercial at times... in fact more than at times.. but there's nothing wrong with that to be fair.
Where it really wins out is in the detailed programming of the set and smooth mixing. I can't quite work out whether it was very carefully put together using Serato or edited together from separately recorded parts (he may be able to shed some light if I get a second to ask him!) but either way, it properly drags the listener from track to track over the course of its twenty-minute length.
It's available for download (I've had it in my MP3 player for the last few days) and the streaming version is below:

Easy now! Thanks for the kind words Analogue! This was actually my first attempt at a mix of this sort so it was a massive learning curve for me! Took me a good few weeks to do mind! The majority was actually done using Ableton Live but you're quite right, a couple of bits had been recorded live via Serato and then I slotted them in to place on Ableton! Really just a massive session in cutting and pasting really - but it's actually not that hard once you get going! The trick, as with any mix, is to know your records and what goes with what really! I've not had a chance to blast it round to everybody just yet but the feedback I've got thus far is definately justifying of a 'part 2' so I'll keep you in the loop! Peace, and thanks again!

Nice one mate. You're very welcome and thanks for the info.
Ableton is not something I've touched on yet... much more for "proper" DJ mixing than turntablism isn't it?... and also kind of a live production thing?
But yeah as I say, nicely planned out and put together. Keep 'em coming.
